January-February 2018
As ever the children in nursery have been very busy. The swimming pool is now back up and running and we have been able to enjoy swimming and hydro sessions once more. While on the subject of fitness, the pupils continue to strive towards the daily mile targets and in their own very individual ways are contributing to the total number of miles every day. Some are in their walkers, some walking independently, some are on bikes, some are in the pool working on their swimming distances and others are out and about visiting local amenities – it all counts! Well done everyone.
We enjoyed the Burns Day celebrations, with pupils making tartan designs from strips of paper and ribbon and Saltire placemats for our whole school Burns supper. The children loved listening to traditional as well as more modern Scottish tunes and ‘Donald where’s your troosers?’ was a big hit.
Our work on the RSPB Silver Wild Challenge continues and we have just started to create artwork utilising waste and recycled materials. More on this in later updates. We are also involved in a big creative art project entitled ‘Feathers, fur and hair’ through the Tesco Bank Art Competition for Schools. The children are just creating a jungle background now by colouring leaves with spray paint. Additional textures and shapes will be added over the coming weeks.
