Core Words are a small set of very powerful words.

They give our pupils the chance to:

• control their environment
• communicate as much as possible using as few words as possible

They can be used at any time during the day, in a large range of activities.

In Oaklands we help our pupils communicate core words in a number of ways:

• through symbols
• through Signalong signs
• through Onbody signing
