23/02/18 – Discretionary Housing Payment

We at Oaklands are continually developing our practice to better meet the needs of our pupils and families.

Family Link Worker, Kirsti Willis

I have joined the school as a part of the incentive to make families feel more supported, as well as make engagement and communication with school easier. Part of my role is also to develop further links between Oaklands and the wider community.
I can be contacted on any issues that impact on the children and their families. I can (for example):
• sign-post parents/carers to relevant services
• assist with common difficulties such as in form filling, information retrieval, etc.
• provide a “listening ear”.
If you have any thoughts, questions or concerns you would like to talk to me about, I can be reached by phone, e-mail and in person. I can also arrange to meet you at school or at your home (if this is more convenient) at school hours or after them. I will be at all family activities at the school, as well as most relevant courses and events in the community.
In the near future, I will be compiling lists of useful courses, resources, charities, organisations, services and activities for our families to use. I will also be helping to arrange more events, like the film nights, where families can meet in a relaxing, fun atmosphere.
As the parents/carers of the pupils, you know the children and your own families best, so I would appreciate any suggestions and ideas you might have that we could implement here at Oaklands!

Family Information web page

We will soon be posting information about useful events, as well as other relevant issues, under this heading. Keep an eye out for updates!
