Little Acorns

June 2017

We have just found out that the Nursery has been awarded the Bronze Wildlife Action Award. Well done to everybody for all their hard work, this is a fabulous achievement.

Our MOVE day was a great success and the children really enjoyed demonstrating the progress they had made throughout the year. There were lots of fun activities for the children to experience all based around a seaside theme and the Nursery looked wonderful decorated with all the children’s bubble and fish themed artwork. Hot on the heels of the MOVE day came the Marathon festival. The Nursery pupils worked exceptionally hard and completed hundreds of metres between them enabling the whole school to achieve its Marathon distance target.

After all that work it was time for our trip to Deep Sea World where the children had opportunities to see sharks, many varieties of fish and at a special sensory session we could even touch a starfish and a snake – very exciting! Continuing the fish theme into our art sessions the children were able to experience clay modelling, making footprints and handprints which were shaped into fish and then painted and decorated with sparkles.

Catherine our lovely music teacher has been visiting the nursery every week to provide live music and songs. This has been a lovely way to enable the children some calm time after lunch and they have been happy to communicate to us which songs they liked (or didn’t!) During the warm weather the nursery class took full advantage of the sunshine and made lovely dens to relax in, as well as being creative outside with bottles, oils and lots of different textures and shiny items.

Lastly we would just like to thank everybody for following our newsletters this year we hope you have enjoyed them. We wish our three graduates all the very best as they progress to Class 1 and we look forward to seeing our returners after the summer holidays for lots of new and exciting learning adventures!
