Nurses

You can contact the school nursing team via the main school number above. The nurses are in school Monday to Friday.

Speech & Language

Our Speech and Language team provide support and advice to both staff and parents in relation to pupils’ communication, eating, drinking and swallowing. You can contact them via the main school phone number above.

Occupational Therapists

Our pupils are supported by visiting Occupational Therapists. They can help with many of your child’s daily activities including hand skills, supportive seating, play skills, independent living skills, and sensory support strategies. Contact your class teacher if you would like to discuss making a referral to them.

Physiotherapy

We have a team of physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants supporting pupils at Oaklands. You can contact them directly via the main school number above or you can speak to your class teacher to discuss making a referral.

Orthotics

The orthotics team assess and provide orthoses – medical devices that fit to the outside of the body. They help people to avoid or recover from injuries, or to live with lifelong conditions.

Wheelchairs and Seating

This service provides wheelchairs (manual and powered) and children’s buggies, with postural supports if required, to people requiring wheeled mobility that are living in the areas covered by NHS Lothian, NHS Fife and NHS Borders. The core elements of the service are referral screening, clinical assessment, design, production, fitting, delivery, trial, repair and maintenance and, if appropriate, planned clinical review.
