Pine Class

November 2016

Dear Parents / Carers,

We cannot believe how quickly the time is passing as we head at break neck speed towards Christmas! Class 2 have had a shared block of Hydrotherapy. The pool was out of action until after the October break. It was only fair that the Class who missed out during first term, had some slots to make up their cancelled sessions. The children have loved being back in the warm water and have worked very hard on their Physiotherapy targets. This has gone all too quickly and has been thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Diane Reid has continued with her successful Enterprise project selling different flavoured muffins which the children make each week in cooking. It is planned that some of the money raised should be donated to the ‘Social Bite,’ Café in Edinburgh. We are planning our trip there to present them with a cheque. Who knows, it may coincide with a visit by George Clooney or Leonardo De Caprio!!

Class 2 have also had our wonderful Music Students from Edinburgh University on a Monday. Each week the girls, Sophia, Roana and Cylan have come along with interactive songs they have created and performed for our children. The girls sing, play their instruments and interact with the children. They also performed at our assembly on the 28th of November when they showed off their work to the whole school. The results were magic! Lots of the children stilled, listened and engaged with the activities.

Over this term we have created our Rainforest corner in the class with all the sensory topic work the children been doing. Perhaps we will learn about climate change as the snow takes over in the Rainforest and it gives way to our Christmas display. Work is also beginning on our Christmas show. Our talented Art / Drama and Music Specialist are very involved with this project. Watch the home-school diaries and book your seats as soon as you get the chance.

Class 2 also plan to have an enterprise barter system for Christmas decorations made by the children. If you wish one of our salt dough stars or Christmas trees, send in an item for the Food Bank. We will send home one of our decorations. It is planned that our barter stall will also make up part of the Enterprise stalls which will be on display at our Christmas show. So if you are coming to the Christmas show, please bring in your food bank food donation and take a decoration.
